BALL BEARINGS
WITH CERAMIC BALLS
service life in contaminated environments and at
extreme temperatures!
CERAMIC BALL BEARING
WHY CERAMIC SPEED BEARINGS?
- Ceramic balls are demonstrably four times smoother than steel balls
- Ceramic balls reduce friction in the bearing
- Less friction – more performance
- Longer service life in contaminated environments
- 4 to 8 times longer service life than conventional bearings
- Made in Europe
The balls in CeramicSpeed eXtreme ball bearings are harder and tougher than anything that comes into contact with them: dust, grit, metal shavings or tiny mineral fragments. Imagine a bearing in which all contaminants are ground into microscopic powder by the balls themselves – a bearing that is unlikely to fail. Proven to be four times smoother than steel balls, it reduces friction in the bearing.
Ceramicspeed Ball Bearings
are bearings like no other!
The CeramicSpeed balls used in all CeramicSpeed bearings are proven to be four times smoother than steel balls, which puts them in a league of their own when it comes to reducing friction in the bearing. And a bearing that is exposed to less friction has a longer service life. In the go-karting and motocross disciplines where ball bearings are used in the engines, this can mean that significantly fewer engine bearings need to be replaced and serviced.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES – CERAMICSPEED balls vs. steel balls
The smoothness and hardness of the CeramicSpeed balls are unique. After 600 hours of testing, the CeramicSpeed balls are still in perfect condition, whereas the surface of other ceramic balls is rough and bumpy after just 10 hours of testing. A rough ball creates increased friction in the bearing and wears out the steel races quickly.
The picture on the right shows two ¼ inch (6.35 mm) balls. The one on the left is a CeramicSpeed ball and the one on the right is a standard steel ball. We applied the same pressure to both balls and the result is clear; the steel ball simply burst under the load, while the CeramicSpeed ball is 100% intact and perfectly usable.
Ceramic Balls
Ceramic balls are available in many different ceramic materials, but the materials used for CeramicSpeed ceramic balls are made of silicon nitride. Silicon nitride balls outperform other ceramic balls and standard steel balls and, in combination with high-quality bearing rings, offer countless advantages over conventional steel bearings.
- 100% smoother
More than 100% smoother than other ceramic balls on the market - Significantly lighter
Ceramic balls are significantly lighter than steel balls, which reduces the centrifugal load when turning the bearing. - Unrivalled strength
15% harder and can withstand 99% higher loads - Highest quality
CeramicSpeed ceramic balls are made of silicon nitride and are characterised by the highest possible surface quality and roundness.
A highly resistant bearing that is unlikely to fail even in the most polluted environments
Imagine a ball bearing in which the balls are harder and tougher than anything that comes into contact with them: dust, grit, metal shavings or tiny mineral fragments. Imagine a bearing in which all impurities are ground into microscopic powder by the balls themselves – a bearing that is unlikely to fail.
A bearing that is unlikely to fail or break
Innovations in materials science are changing many industries at this time. Ceramic materials are proving to be stronger and much more durable than steel, for example – and this is also having an impact on your industry.
CeramicSpeed Xtreme
Hybrid ball bearings are the future for demanding applications. They last longer and perform better than other bearing types, and they have an operating life 4 to 8 times longer than steel ball bearings – in most cases even longer.
More resistant than the rest
The CeramicSpeed Xtreme range of ball bearings has been developed for applications in contaminated environments where particles could enter the bearings and affect their performance. The hybrid balls are characterised by unrivalled hardness and can withstand a high level of contamination by crushing the particles that enter the bearing raceways. They are also highly resistant to water and cleaning agents, as silicon nitride does not corrode.
Technical information
CeramicSpeed hybrid ball bearings are equipped with high-quality ceramic balls (Si3N4), which are twice as hard and four times smoother than steel and require considerably less lubrication. A significantly lower coefficient of friction reduces bearing temperatures and energy consumption.
The CeramicSpeed Xtreme series is designed for applications in contaminated environments where particles can enter the bearing and affect bearing performance. The hybrid balls are characterised by unrivalled hardness and tolerate high levels of contamination by crushing the particles that enter the bearing raceways. Our Xtreme series is also extremely resistant to water and cleaning agents, as silicon nitride does not corrode.
Yes, the CeramicSpeed Xtreme series can also be specially manufactured and optimised for oscillating applications. These applications are suitable for specialised machines that require a bearing that cannot perform full rotation.
